If I could give zero stars I would. I went to purchase windows. We knew exactly what was needed it was a simple transaction. There was no one there to help. When I asked for assistance, I was there to make a simple purchase, I was given a bunch of lip. When I asked for the manager, I was told they were away. The woman just walked away mouthing off to me, so I just left. I tried sending an email and was basically told "I am too busy to help you." We made our purchase elsewhere and will not be returning. So, you lost a sale, got a bad review and lost a client for life. Great job!

I loved this place when it was Smoot Lumber! Now it a Builders 1st Source. They have taken away the mill shop which was always amazing. Now it’s gone. A few of the old veterans are still there but it’s a completely different place now and it was not busy at all. It is usually packed. It does have a lot of products in stock but the majority of things now have to be ordered. Not what it used to be but few things are. It is worth a visit though. Everyone that works there is super nice and they do their best for you. Enjoy your visit.

I have been out of the industry for about a year, and felt this was an appropriate time to write a review without seeming like I have something to gain. I use to be a window vendor rep, and worked closely with Rick and Keisha. Our product was a a newer offering and we had a few ups and downs with lead times amongst some other issues (on our end, not Smoot). I’m a hard believe that true colors show during tough times. During that year working with the team at Smoot, I got to witness just how special they were. Rick and Keisha have so much on their plate, and regardless of how tough their situations were, they always provided exceptional care. They treated everyone like family. It was a tough year as a vendor rep, and going to Smoot always put a smile on my face. They are an extremely knowledgeable, compassionate team, who will always give you suggestions on what fits your project best based on your needs. I wish I could still call Smoot everyday, and visit you guys once a week, and I will still come by when I can, but just know that I appreciate you guys to the moon and back. Smoot is a very special place. Keisha, Rick, Jeff, Kelley, and everyone that I missed, you guys deserve a huge vacation once the craziness of these past few years is over.

This lumber yard has always been my go-to source for all types of wood trim and building material products. They carry everything from crown molding, chair rail moldings, and baseboards of all shapes and sizes. They also have a wide range of PVC trim materials which are generally used on the exterior of properties. PVC is great because it will never deteriorate. They definitely have more wood products than the big box hardware stores, because wood is what they specialize in. Also I believe that they've been in business since the 1950's. Every experience that I've had at this place has always been positive, even if I messed something up or made a bad measurement, the Sales Associates here have always gone out of their way for me.

In 10+ years of renovating my circa 1900 house, dealing with Smoot Lumber (now Builder's First Source) is the worst vendor experience that I have had. I ordered a solid wood slab in Ponderosa Pine for a pocket door in a master bath addition; I received an MDF pre-hung primed door. Seemingly ever-present "supply chain delays" aside, my experience was exacerbated by key person dependencies, very poor follow-through and communication, and quite simply, utter incompetence on the part of Derrick Smith. In frustration, I attempted to escalate only to be told that Derrick was the only person that could "help" me!! While I ultimately accepted delivery of the inferior door while at the end of construction due to the extended delays without any ability to estimate an accurate delivery date, I requested to know the price of the inferior door for a refund of the difference. My written requests to Derrick Smith however went unanswered (Surprise!!).

PMC smooth is one of the oldest and largest supplier to the professional building trades on the East Coast Smoot has a legacy going back to before the turn of the 20th century and many partnerships with the areas largest construction firms in the Washington DC metro region. If you're looking for a hard to find profile or specialty timber this is the place to go. Prices can be high but the service is top notch
